Haptotherapy

Sometimes your body says something your head does not yet understand

Your body often knows before your head does that something is out of balance. Perhaps you experience tension, restlessness, burnout symptoms, anxiety, panic, or you notice that earlier experiences or trauma continue to affect you. And if you find it hard to feel your boundaries, or keep ending up in the same patterns, haptotherapy can help you get back in touch with yourself.

In a session we listen together not only to what you say, but also to what your body shows. Through conversation, experience-based exercises and — when appropriate — the touch used in haptotherapy, space opens up to stay with what you feel.

You keep your clothes on during a haptotherapy session. Touch is always agreed beforehand and happens only when it feels comfortable for you. You set your own boundaries throughout.

The method is not what matters most; you are.

Perhaps you recognise this...

  • You feel a lot of physical tension that simply will not ease.
  • Anxiety or panic show up mainly in your body: a racing heart, tightness, restlessness.
  • Earlier experiences or trauma still seem to sit ‘in your body’.
  • You find it hard to feel your boundaries, let alone express them.
  • You live mainly from your head and long for more connection with your body.
  • You want to learn to understand better what your body is trying to tell you.

Good to know

  • You keep your clothes on during the session.
  • Touch is always agreed beforehand and happens only when it feels comfortable.
  • There is always room to say what feels right for you.
  • You determine your own pace and boundaries.

Do I have to take off my clothes?

No. You keep your clothes on during a session. Touch is always agreed beforehand and happens only when it feels comfortable.

Is touch always part of it?

No. Haptotherapy is far more than touch alone. Sometimes a session is mainly a conversation or an experience-based exercise. Together we look at what suits you at the time.

My view

I believe that lasting change happens when head and body, thinking and feeling, come back into connection with one another. From that connection, what matters to you often becomes clear by itself. Not because someone else tells you what to do, but because you learn again to trust what you feel yourself. That is where haptotherapy begins for me.

A first step

You do not have to be sure whether haptotherapy is the right form of support for you. In a first appointment we explore together what you are looking for and which form of support fits best. Sometimes that is haptotherapy, sometimes a conversation, often a combination. Together we look at what you need at this moment.
